The Anthem Inside Us

Have you ever had no idea?
Ok. Well, I have, often.
Cool thing about having no idea? God has an idea. In fact, He has a plan. He MADE a plan. He doesn't just leave people...He doesn't just leave them, ever.
Sometimes, I am tempted to be over this law school thing. Tempted ever so subtly to be duped, duped into believing that perhaps I am not supposed to be here, that I missed something, but I didn't, I know I didn't.

I know I didn't, because, while I don't know God's entire plan, I know that if I had not come to this exact place, at this exact moment, my life would not be so indescribably rich as it is right now.
Welcome to richness.

God does not discriminate. He does not choose to bless only the princes and turn His strong back on the pauper, He does not anoint the rich man's daughter and cast aside an orphaned son.
Sometimes I wonder...sometimes we all wonder, but within all of us is an anthem...it's His anthem, but it's a different one for each person.
My anthem is a single verse... I call it the "10:18 Proclamation" The 10:18 proclamation has been one of my life verses for many years, and the second I begin to doubt my presence in this place, I speak that verse over my life.

It's as simple as this "To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, that the man of earth may oppress no more." 10:18, the verse I write on every white board when I hide myself away to study, the four numbers that follow several passwords to several different places, the line that for years has reminded me that the anthem inside of me belongs to a mighty symphony, and I need not doubt God's ability OR His desire to take care of me EVERY STEP of the way.
The same is true for you. Things don't always occur the way we expect them to, but if we truly believe God is who He says He is, and if we're seeking His sweet face, HE WILL reward us and HE WILL NOT leave our presence.
You're going to be ok. The anthem inside of you is not ignored...sing loudly, and make sure that His name is glorified as you do it.

In college, my bosom friend Eva would come to my apartment and sit with her back against my bed, facing me she'd say "google this song." This started a tradition known as "Song of the Day" and we did it for years.
On one such day she gave me a song by one of our favorite bands Caedmon's Call entitled "The Innocent's Corner."
I googled it and as the words played she said "This song, it's you, you will forever be hiding in the innocent's corner, championing the cause of the innocent, this song is you." Then, in true intimate friend fashion, Eva came near to me and sang the words of the chorus. As she did so, my anthem, my greatest desire, the idea I had no idea how to make reality, was breathed upon, inspired, renewed, reinstated, restored.

These are the words Eva sang into my ear, the words that changed my life...the words that turned up the volume on my anthem. "And she fell to her knees and she cried 'In the innocents corner I'll hide!' You came around, and lifted her up with the angels beside, would she be denied?"

That song plays as I type this to you. And after years of praying, and hiding in the innocent's corner, I can say to you, the answer is no, no, she would not be denied. God is lavish. LAVISH, and HE LOVES YOU! The anthem inside of you is beautiful and melodic to Him. Whether it's dropping to your knees in the corner of the innocent, or reclaiming corporate law for the cause of Christ, He has an idea for you...a plan. No number, no grade, no idle or ill spoken word, will prevent you from doing exactly what the Lord Most High has for you.
Do not be deceived into believing you have arrived if your grades are great, or that you have failed if they aren't, the Lord has a plan, and YOUR LIFE, to Him, was a great idea. All else beyond this is slightly less relevant in the grand scheme of things.

You are immensely beautiful, exquisite, cherished. Your life was a good idea, an idea He has a plan for, and your anthem is incredible, let it be heard.

You are more than a champion, more than a conqueror, for you have the mind of Christ and the armor of God. :)
