A Lesson Before Giving

For my big sister, Nat, who never fails to remind me that a love like His never goes unnoticed.
Goodness...
Well, here we are.
I'm posting this because I just can't keep it in right now.
Sometimes as people, we tend to feel as though the gifts we give may go unnoticed, but this is not the case.
Over the summer I purchased a ticket to Texas, and something happened to my plane, so I didn't go. When I didn't go, the airline gave me a voucher, and about a week and a half ago, I redeemed half of it. I'd been telling people I had a "free ticket" but really, I had a ticket I had paid for and was using. When I went online to chart the bill cycles for that credit card *yep, I'm a nerd and chart my bills* :) the total was $300 less than it had been, and I was overwhelmed. The young woman who had booked my flight for me had also given me a refund.
So, really, I did get a free ticket, I didn't just have a voucher for the flight I missed, I also got my money back.
This was extraordinary for me to assimilate. Obviously, I know God cannot be outdone, and people cannot outgive him, but NO REASON exists for why I received both a ticket and a refund, except to say that God Almighty rewards those who remain faithful to His cross.
We are overwhelmed when this happens because we forget sometimes that God is infinite, and we are not. When He gives us something, we anticipate that He will follow a set of guidelines in blessing us, or that He can only go so far because we have only done A B and C, and 23 letters remain unfulfilled on the to do list. In reality though, if A B and C are all we can do, that's plenty, He is God enough to count to 23 and finish the alphabet. He gave us the capacity to say the alphabet...I think perhaps He can go down the list (or through the outline for you law students) without so much as a word from us.

I've titled this post "A Lesson Before Giving" because I see it as kind of the opposite of the principle we've been learning in property "Caveat Emptor" Many have heard that phrase, but most people don't understand what it means under law.
Literally translated it means "Buyer Beware", but it pertains to the fact that if you buy something, as a buyer, you are only entitled to that which your seller had the right to entrust to you. So, if your seller did not own what you bought, it didn't belong to him, and it doesn't belong to you...at least in the strict sense without all of the nitty gritty details. Something which Similarly, if you are willing to give, you must also be prepared to receive, because NOTHING belongs to you, and GOD knows your heart....
He always gives back when you give, and when you let Him do the rest.
Just take it one letter at a time...He's got the pen anyway.
Giver Beware...
ABC...
